I’ve left the place though I am not free
My chains are broken yet I still cannot be
All locks smashed though I still guard the key
My captor now, with the grave
The ghost pleads but I won’t save
Now walk to that lonely place
The lights, at my window fade
Only whispers that wish to stay
I hope – they never find the place
The place is cold, oh know
Constant cold
I kill my chance to break the bars
Lead in my mouth and the only scar
All that was – I feel from afar
Concrete road, that I must walk
I get halfway and I’m forced to stop
Cracks in life shatter ground and I drop
The lights, at my window fade
Only whispers that wish to stay
I hope – they never find the place
The place is cold, oh know
Constant cold
Crying on your knees, take me back there please
If fate is all you need, why’d you break it at the seams
The dirt that stains your hands, a cryptic fade away
You wash the colour off, but the feeling is there to stay
And tears that touch the ground grow roses every day
The thorns they cut the ties, happiness thrown away
The lights, at my window fade
Only whispers that wish to stay
I hope – they never find the place
The place is cold, oh know
Constant cold
Another devastatingly beautiful batch of indie rock confessionals from Ontario singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Linnea Siggelkow. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 28, 2024

Well... Like some people here, I never really liked that song! However, this is *so* much better than the original, for all the reasons already listed by deluded_marxist! The depth of feelings here, especially from the vocals but also the slow music, really is on a whole other level! Thanks to Tara Tantrum for taking me here! Highly recommended!!! bmurator
